
The Warri North Local Government Council chairman, Honourable Festus Ani Ashima has charged the youths in Warri North Local Government Area of the state to be proactive in their career choices.
Ashima gave this charge during an interactive programme organized by the executives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Warri North Chapter led by Comrade Benson Erewa as part of the activities to mark the one-year anniversary of the Ashima led administration.
The event, which was held at the foremost Koko Community Management Authority (KCMA) hall in Koko Community, had in attendance youths from the various communities in the local government.
Speaking at the event, the Warri North Council boss urged the youths to look beyond the usual search for white collar jobs and explore alternative career choices.
“There are other areas that can be explored in the government; such as the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Military and other parastatals, rather than looking up fir a white collar job that is not available in oil multinationals,” he emphasized.
He further called on them to shun all forms of social vices such as ; cutism, intake of hard drugs, internet fraud; popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo, that can truncate their future and that of the society.
While appreciating the Comrade Erewa-led administration of the NYCON for organizing such a robust engagement, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment and determination to provide more infrastructural, human capital and entrepreneurial development for the overall good of the people of Warri North .
The highlight of the event was the presentation of an award of excellence to the council chairman by the Warri North chapter of the youth organisation.
