Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodinma, says President Bola Tinubu has brought Nigeria out of the bush to the roadside, paving way for further development and progress.
According to Uzodinma, the country had long been stuck in challenging times, but under Tinubu’s administration, the country has made significant strides.
The governor said this during a visit by governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the National Chairman of the Party to the Plateau State Council of Chiefs in Jos, on Wednesday.
“In this country called Nigeria, we have come a long way. Leaders have come and gone. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is barely two years in office. All the cheats, all the rots, all the troubles—poverty, hardship, high cost of living, fuel scarcity—were heaped on his head, I can tell you, within two years in office, at least Nigeria, which was in the bush, has been brought out to the road. So, we can now move. “
Uzodinma said while they were aware of the current difficulties faced by Nigerians, the administration is charting a positive direction to move the country forward.
“I am not unaware that the process of healing came with some pain. I am not unaware that people at the grassroots are facing difficulties. I am not unaware that the economy, once in the bush, is now ready to grow. But I have come to tell you that history and this country have challenged us to repair all these wounds,” the governor said.
The Forum’s chairman, however, told the State Council of Chiefs that the appointment of Yilwatda Nentawe, a son of the state and a professor, would significantly contribute to bringing development to the state, explaining, “Your son has now become a key figure in our journey towards justice and progress. Only your continued support, cooperation, and prayers will enable him to succeed. His success is our success. Therefore, our collective prayer is for this new Chairman to succeed in his role.
“We are here to show our solidarity and support to your son and to join you in thanking Almighty God who made this possible. I assure you that the choice of Professor Nentawe as the Chairman of our party is not just a responsibility but evidence of his sincerity to do politics that is not based on religion, ethnicity, or primordial sentiments but to correct the errors of the past.”
