In democratic governance, constructive criticism fuels accountability and progress. Yet, Delta State faces ongoing negative criticism that threatens unity and overshadows real achievements under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration. Distinguishing between baseless attacks and fact-based feedback is vital to sustaining growth across all communities.
At a recent press conference in Asaba, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, reaffirmed the Governor’s unwavering commitment to equitable development under the MORE Agenda, covering all 25 Local Government Areas.
Aniagwu highlighted numerous projects that demonstrate this dedication, including:
1. Otekpo Road, Elu – fully completed
2. Internal roads in Isoko South – multiple rehabilitated and ongoing
3. Uzere–Asaba-Ase Bridge – near completion, a critical link for regional trade
4. Isoko Ring Road – connecting several communities, easing transport
5. Emede internal roads – various phases completed
6. Enuru–Ikuli Access Road – substantial progress ongoing
7. Uruaka Express Link Road, Emede – ongoing construction
8. Olomoro–Igbide Road – phased development underway
9. Emevor–Orogun Road Phase 1 – completed; Phase 2 ongoing
Data shows over 75 kilometers of rural and urban roads have been constructed or rehabilitated in the last two years alone. This progress is opening up markets, improving access to health and education, and boosting daily life for thousands of Deltans.
The Commissioner also warned against misinformation, urging citizens to recognize the government’s active development efforts and avoid unfair demands framed as complaints about inaction.
Echoing this, several leaders praised Governor Oborevwori’s leadership
– Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly:
“Governor Oborevwori has exceeded the expectations of Deltans by matching words with actions through massive execution of both inherited and new projects.”
– Hon. Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works and Public Information:
“The MORE Agenda is being actively delivered across all 25 Local Governments. We urge citizens to avoid unfounded complaints and recognize the real progress happening, especially in areas like Isoko.”
– Dr. Festus Okubor, Chief Strategist to the Governor:
“Our administration’s vision is clear and realistic. We prioritize impactful projects that promote inclusive development, transparency, and peace across Delta State.”
– A community leader from Isoko South (anonymous for confidentiality):
“We have witnessed real change with improved roads and infrastructure that are opening up our communities. Constructive feedback keeps development moving; baseless criticism only slows progress.”
As other Nigerian States like Ekiti embrace initiatives such as export training and business competitiveness, Delta State’s commitment to peace, resource management, and visible infrastructure development shows it is on the right path
By fostering responsible, fact-based dialogue and rejecting divisive propaganda, Delta State will continue to build unity and accelerate growth. The progress isn’t just promised — it’s happening for all Deltans.
