Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu has implored staff of the Ministry of Primary Education to adhere strictly to laid -down procedures in the discharge of their duties.
The commissioner gave the charge in his office during a crucial meeting with staff members of the Planning, Research and Statistics Department (PRS), particularly officers scheduled to handle Primary School matters across the 25 Local Government areas of the state.
He stressed that the PRS Department remained the engine room in the ministry, adding that much was expected from staff in the department.
He appreciated their efforts so far, but charged them to do more as officers, maintaining that they should perform above average.
Ashibogwu mentioned that their proactiveness would not only promote the realisation of the goals of the MORE Agenda of the state government, but would also impact on the performance of pupils across the state.
“The MORE Agenda of His Excellency, the Governor, cannot be fully actualised without our own input as a ministry in the education subsector.
“It is on this note, I am charging you today to be proactive as this would not only contribute to the actualisation of the MORE Agenda but can minimize unforeseen circumstances.
“I am charging you to be diligent in your duties and stand by what the laws say, as failure to perform your duties will be met with appropriate sanctions.
“Carefully look out for dilapidated and classrooms not in use with a view to demolish and convert them into better usages,” the commissioner said.
Responding, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS) in the ministry, Mr Ernest Ossai, appreciated the commissioner for the advice and directives and pledged on behalf of the staff of the department to put in more efforts in furthering the actualisation of the primary role of the ministry in the state.
