The State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu, has ordered the cancellation of the supplementary transfer of teachers just released with immediate effect citing gross irregularities in the transfer process.
In a statement, the Commissioner frowned at persistent disregard for the even distribution of teachers amongst rural and urban schools with a big vacuum being created by this anomaly.
Ezewu said that the desire for teachers to be transferred from rural schools which already has a deficit in manpower to urban schools with already overpopulated teachers with some of the teachers doing nothing. She said that such actions creates an imbalance that does not augur well for the educational sector in Delta State and not in line with the Renewed Hope for More Agenda of Oborevwori’s Administration.
She warned School Heads not to accept any teacher posted to their schools through the canceled exercise, emphasizing the urgent need to prioritize rural schools in helping to lift the standard of education and added that any School Head that contravenes this order will face stiff punishment.
Ezewu assured of the government’s commitment towards uplifting the standard of education and ensuring compliance and accountability in schools to help in actualizing the administration’s mantra for sustainable and affordable education for all citizens and inhabitants of Delta State.
