Administrative Officers in Delta State have been charged with the responsibility of creating an enabling environment and ensuring that the smooth operations of government activities in their Offices contribute to the overall development of the Civil Service Career.
The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr (Mrs) Mininim Oseji, gave the Charge at a meeting of Directors and Deputy Directors of the Administrative Officers Cadre and Investiture of the Dean of Cadre in Asaba.
Acknowledging that their roles cannot be overemphasized in Strengthening the Civil Service Career, the Head of Service encouraged them to seek other legitimate means to earn extra income without breaking the Civil Service Rules, thereby avoiding entitlement mentality which could damage their work ethics.
Outlining such legitimate activities that could bring extra income to include, “Official Trips, Cooperative Loans for investment, receiving Honorarium as resource persons, Participating in Research Activities,Writing Books, Increase in Salaries and Inheritance,” the Head of Service advised them to set goals for themselves every six months while surrounding themselves with people who would encourage them to reach their goals.
The HOS who expressed great delight as she was decorated with the Investiture of the” Head of Administrative Officers Cadre”, pledged to collaborate with the Forum for an effective and efficient public service delivery.
In his welcome Address, the Chairman of the Forum, Mr Emokhiniovo Itobore explained that the Forum is composed of well-groomed and rounded Officers who are organized and ensure they are never found wanting both in Character and Integrity.
Stating the activities of the day to include the Investiture of the Head of Service as Head of Cadre, Functioning Permanent Secretary, Mr Kingsley Olomukoro as Dean of Cadre, Permanent Secretaries, Mrs Felicia Reno-Orugbo and Mr Victor Udi as Patrons, the Chairman mentioned that there would be discussions and brainstorming by Administrative Officers at the Meeting, which would result in Effective Document that would be presented to the Head of Service.
Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Governor’s Office, Dr Anthony Nwokolobia, Bureau for Special Duties, Prince Gregory Ejowhomu, Protocol Matters, Mr Nelson Tetsola and Office of the Head of Service, Mr Wilson Chukwuka were also at the ceremony.
