Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has assured Deltans that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration will not be distracted by political attacks and false narratives being peddled ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press briefing in Asaba on Monday, Aniagwu, alongside the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, said the state government remains focused on delivering its four-point agenda anchored on peace, security, meaningful development, and reforms.
“Those behind these campaigns of calumny are attempting to de-market the administration for selfish political gain,” Aniagwu said. “But our commitment to building a Delta that is peaceful, inclusive, and investment-friendly remains unwavering.”
The commissioner highlighted several ongoing projects spread across all senatorial districts and federal constituencies, stressing that the administration had ensured equitable distribution of infrastructure to foster unity and progress.
According to him, Oborevwori’s consistency in keeping schools functional despite nationwide strikes, massive road construction in both riverine and upland areas, and social investment programmes aimed at job creation were clear evidence of his people-oriented governance.
Aniagwu further explained that peace remained central to the governor’s vision, warning that anyone who foments trouble would not be spared, no matter their status.
“For Governor Oborevwori, enhanced peace and security are non-negotiable because development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace,” he said. “That is why he continues to appeal to all Deltans to embrace unity and patriotism.”
He reaffirmed that the administration would continue executing projects up until the last months of its tenure, insisting that governance would not be slowed down by electioneering activities.
“Oborevwori’s style of governance treats every Deltan equally,” Aniagwu noted. “Those seeking to paint him otherwise are out of tune with reality. His commitment to fairness, peace, and development is firm and unshaken.”
