
The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has praised Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, for the sacrifice of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Party
Wike made the commendation during the commissioning of the 15•13km Ikot Esu-Otomo-Azumini road in Ika LGA of Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday.
The PDP Chieftain emphasised the importance of putting development above party loyalty, noting that Governor Eno’s decision to work with the Senate President will bring more development to the state.
“Unity brings about development. Working together brings about development. Putting yourself together to be strong brings about development.”
The FCT Minister commended Governor Eno for taking the right step in joining forces with the Senate President, saying this collaboration will yield more development projects in Akwa Ibom State.
“One good thing you must commend the governor for, is I agree, for the interest of Akwa Ibom state, to move Akwa Ibom to the next level, is to work together with the senate president.
“ I can assure you, teaming up with the senate president to work together, you will see more presence, you will see more development in Akwa Ibom state”
He also praised the governor’s leadership, citing the construction of the Ikot Esu-Azomini road as a testament to his commitment to development.
Wike reiterated his commitment to development, stating that he prioritizes progress over party affiliation.
He cited President Bola Tinubu’s leadership as an example, noting that the president’s administration has made funds available to states for development projects.
Speaking earlier, Governor Eno emphasised the importance of unity in driving development, saying “when we unite for progress, it defies politics.”
He thanked the Abia State Governor for collaborating on the road project, which stretches across both states.
The governor expressed the state’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term, citing the president’s efforts to stabilize the economy.
“We are united to support the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second term, because of all that he’s doing. We know where he took up from, and we have seen that the economy is stabilizing.
“He’s doing well and we have the funds to do our projects such as this, without owing the banks, and we are not leaving debts for those who will take over from us.
“So we want to support him. We believe he should finish. And we in Akwa Ibom, we are united in support of the president. We are united in support of the distinguished senator, Godswill Obot Akpabio.”
Eno urged the Ministry of Works to expedite action on the completion of the Mbiabong-Atan-Ikon-Inya road, warning that if the project is not completed within three months, the contract will be terminated.
He emphasized the importance of delivering on the government’s mandate and ensuring that contractors do not drag the government into unnecessary delays
