A Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, has granted an interim injunction stopping the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police from enforcing the new Tinted Glass Permit Policy.
The order, issued by Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa, pauses the policy’s implementation set for October 6, 2025, pending a full hearing of a legal challenge brought by Mr. John Aikpokpo-Martins.
Justice Nganjiwa commanded all parties to maintain the status quo and barred the police from harassing, arresting, or impounding vehicles over tinted glass enforcement. The court also prohibited any extortion or violation of citizens’ rights to dignity, privacy, and freedom of movement related to this policy.
Additionally, the court stopped the use of the PARKWAY PROJECTS account for collecting fees linked to the tinted glass permit. The ruling allows court papers to be served via FedEx and requires the defendants to respond before the injunction can be made permanent.
The case remains adjourned for further hearing.
