
The Delta State Commissioner for finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije has assured that the state government is keeping up with its fiscal policy thrust of accountability and transparency as well as the use of modern technology to drive the financial management of the state.
He made this known yesterday, while delivering a goodwill message during the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of the Delta State Strategic Communication workshop (DELCOM 2025) with the theme: Strategic Communication in the Digital Age; Leveraging Artificial Intelligence with Digital Tools for Effective Leadership organized by the state orientation and communication Bureau in Asaba.
The Commissioner who was represented by the ministry’s functioning permanent secretary, Mr Gibson Pinnick said that the Finance ministry viz-a-viz the Accountant General’s and the Auditor General’s office have sustained the practice of publishing the state’s annual audited financial statement in the state’s official website as well as on leading newspapers, so that Deltans could assess the facts behind the figures.
“Fiscal data should inform decision that our people feel, timely payment of salaries, credible social programs and infrastructure that work. We will support digital tools that improve service delivery while safeguarding accuracy and equity,” the commissioner said.
He added that when we communicate well,our budget performs better, and when Deltans are informed, her institutions grow stronger. He further said that the story of Delta should be told with evidence, empathy and the courage to admit where we must do MORE.
