
A political and social group, Unique Ladies for Sheriff, on Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The group unanimously passed the vote of confidence in the duo, following a motion moved by Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua, which was seconded by Hon. Mrs. Irene Imilar,during its sensitization and strategic forum held at the cenotaph, Asaba.
In her remarks, Wife of the governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori thanked the ladies for their continuous support for the President, Bola Tinubu and the governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Deaconess Oborevwori, who was represented by the wife of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mrs. Bridget Erijo, said; “With the unalloyed support of the Unique Ladies for Sheriff, I am confident that come 2027, my husband will be returned to office as the governor of Delta State and Mr President will also be returned to office”
She commended the unity of purpose of the group, saying its only unity that will bring women from the different ethnic groups of Delta State together. ”
She thanked the ladies for mobilizing the grassroot in support of her husband and Mr President. She promised to continue to support the group in her own capacity as the first lady and as a woman.
Earlier in her welcome address, the national coordinator of the group, Chief Nkem Okwuofu thanked the governor for advancing his noble ideals of the M.O.R.E agenda.
According to her, “gathering here today, is not just to celebrate our identities as Unique Ladies but to renew our commitment to service, empowerment and grassroot engagement”
According to her, the theme of the forum, “Touching The Grassroot”, is both a call to action and a statement of purpose.
Chief Okwuofu said that “as Unique Ladies For Sheriff, the mission is to carry the message of hope from the governor to the people at the grassroot.
“We must communicate clearly the governor’s vision of Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reform and Enhanced peace and security”.
She stated that the governor has shown unprecedented confidence in women by giving them recognition, inclusion and opportunities to serve.
She pledged that the Unique Ladies for Sheriff will continue to promote unity, mobilise support for the governor and stand firmly behind the governor and Mr President.
In his goodwill message, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, appreciated the ladies for coming together to drum up support for the governor and President.
The Speaker who was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo stated that he is very much aware of the capacity of the women to deliver the votes for the governor and President come 2027; especially now that the governor has kept to his campaign promises.
Similarly, the State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Fidelis Tilije appreciated the ladies for their great support and mobilisation of the grassroot for the governor and President.
He stated that the governor deserves all the support that the ladies have given to him because of his prudent management of both humans and resources.
The deputy coordinator of the Unique Ladies For Sheriff, Mrs. Roselyn Amioku in a vote of thanks, maintained that the Unique Ladies will continue to work hard to support the governor.
