The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior has again expressed appreciation to the people of the area for their cooperation, support and prayer for his administration, assuring that he would remain faithful to the social pact between the government and the people.
Ehiwarior, gave the assurance over the weekend, while being conferred with the Nigeria Distinguished Medal of Honour Award 2025, as the Council Chairman of the Year, in Leadership and Public Service, which was held at the National Merit Award House, Abuja.
Receiving the award, the Chairman thanked the Nigeria Radar for finding him worthy of the honour, adding that the recognition was a call to more dedication and commitment to the development of Ika South Local Government Area.
He disclosed that every of his administration’s decisions, policy and programmes was geared toward positively impacting and improving the lives of residents of the area, noting that the government had made significant progress in the areas of infrastructure and human capacity building.
“The road, bridge, and market infrastructure we have put in place since being on the mantle were well thought out. They were executed with the calculation that they would have direct bearing on the everyday existence of our people. I am always excited seeing the joy on the faces of our people as we continue to navigate through the process of adding values to their lives.
“Today, as I stand in this hallowed hall to receive this award, I feel fulfilled knowing that the much we have been able to achieve is being recognized and appreciated, even beyond the vicinity of our local government area. It is indeed a thing of joy. This will surely spur us to do more for our people.
“I want to specially thank and appreciate the good people of Ika South Local Government Area, for their unwavering support and constant prayer for me and the administration. Their support means a lot to me and my team. We will never take them for granted. It is on this note that I dedicate the award to them, and once again pledge my unreserved resolve to continue to serve them with transparency and accountability.
“I also use this opportunity to express my profound appreciation to our dear Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the encouragement and support he has been giving Council Chairmen in the state. We remain dutifully committed to his administration’s MORE Agenda,” the Chairman added.
The Chairman of Agbor N’ Igidi Association, Abuja, Barr. George Ogbormeh, in a brief speech, extolled Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, describing him as a high performer who is making everyone proud as a result of his proactive style of governance, adding that the award was not only a recognition, but also, a challenge to do more work, and assured that the organisation, and indeed every Agbor indigene at home and in diaspora, would continue to collaborate with the administration for the development of Ika South Local Government Area.
Those honoured alongside Engr. Ehiwarior were the Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Hon. Chris Zakka Maikalanga; Chairman, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Hon. Vincent Osilonye; Vice Chancellor, University of Delta, Agbor, Dame Prof. Mrs Stella Chiemeke, and the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Isaac Weyini Agbatayinro, among others.
