Youth corps members have been advised to prepare for life beyond the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by acquiring relevant skills that will enable them to thrive in society, rather than depending solely on white-collar jobs that are increasingly difficult to find.
The Honourable Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, gave the advice while addressing corps members who served in the Ministry of Information, Asaba.
While congratulating the outgoing Batch B Stream II corps members on the successful completion of their mandatory national service, Aniagwu urged them to utilize the skills and experiences gained during their service year to become productive members of society. He emphasized that self-reliance and skill acquisition remain key to overcoming the challenges of unemployment.
The Commissioner commended the corps members for their dedication and discipline throughout their service in the Ministry of Information, noting that they distinguished themselves without blemish. He described them as worthy ambassadors of the Delta State Government and encouraged them to continue upholding the values of diligence, integrity, and patriotism wherever they find themselves.
Speaking on behalf of the outgoing corps members, Mr. Michael Izunanne expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of their service year and thanked the Commissioner for his fatherly guidance and support. He assured that they would continue to project Delta State positively in all their future endeavours.
A total of eight corps members from Batch B Stream II were formally sent forth by the ministry.
