The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has again assured that no community in the area would be neglected in the provision of infrastructure under his watch, even as he reiterated his administration’s commitment to the well-being of the people.
Ehiwarior gave the assurance in his office at Agbor, when he received a delegation from the Alisimie community, led by Chief Augustine Akpaokueze, the Abasogun of Agbor Kingdom.
The Chairman maintained that all parts of Ika South Local Government Area would receive the attention of his administration, adding that his primary responsibility was to see that every community in the area was carried along in the developmental drive of the government.
He commended the elders and youths of Alisimie community for being able to maintain peace, especially in the manner they handled and resolved the thorny issue between the community and tipper drivers engaged in the excavation of sand in Ahima quarters of the community.
“I am aware of the poor state of roads in the community caused by the activities of tipper drivers. It was heart- warming to know that a brewing conflict between the community and the tipper drivers was amicably resolved without resorting to violence and breakdown of law and order. Yes, I know the current condition of the road is posing a serious challenge to vehicular movements. But the scope of work that is expected to be done on the road is obviously beyond the capacity of the council, however, we will make efforts to draw the attention of the State Government to the deplorable state of the road to see what could be done to alleviate the plight of all who make use of it,” the chairman added.
Ehiwarior also disclosed that the local government had other plans for the community which include providing security personnel for the health centre to protect staff and equipment in the facility.
Earlier, Chief Augustine Akpaokueze, had commended Engr. Ehiwarior for his inclusive leadership, and the achievements so far recorded by his administration, and declared that the people of Alisimie were fully behind him, and prayed for more successes in the years ahead.
