The Chairman of the Asaba Community Vigilante, Ogbueshi Nnamdi Chukwuedo, has stated that security operations in the capital city would become more effective and seamless if residents provide timely and relevant information to vigilante groups and other security agencies in Delta State.
He made this known during a media chat at his office in Asaba, the state capital.
Ogbueshi Chukwuedo reaffirmed his commitment—and that of his team—to sustaining the peace in Asaba, especially during the yuletide season. He stressed that security is a collective responsibility, not one to be left solely in the hands of security agencies.
He urged residents to remain vigilant at all times and promptly report any suspicious persons or movements to the vigilante group or other security agencies. According to him, such cooperation is essential for preventing crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
The Vigilante Chairman commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his support toward strengthening security in the state. He, however, appealed for additional assistance in the form of vehicles and other logistics to enhance the operational capacity of the vigilante group.
He also called on philanthropists and well-meaning individuals in Asaba to support the vigilante body to enable it function more effectively.
Ogbueshi Chukwuedo described the Asagba of Asaba, Professor Epiphany Azinge, as a great father figure. While congratulating the royal father on his 70th birthday, he expressed confidence that his reign would usher in greater development to the state capital.
