The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr (Mrs) Mininim Oseji has emphasized the crucial role of Account Officers in safeguarding the state financial integrity. She charged them to identify red flags for potential fraud and develop strategies to mitigate Risks-.
Dr Oseji, made the call at a two-day workshop on Audit Verification and Fraud Control for Account Officers in Asaba.
The Workshop aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to conduct their duties with confidence, integrity and attention to detail.
While urging participants to listen attentively and participate actively, the Head of Service disclosed that the lessons learned at the workshop would be used to sensitize the entire workforce on financial management .
The Head of Service commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting the development of the state Civil Service and Kundun Associates for facilitating the training Program .
In their separate remarks, the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Directorate of Establishments and Pensions, Mr Kingsley Olomukoro and a Consultant, Dr Stanley Odigbo explained that the objectives of the training was to update participants with knowledge and skills on best practices to ensure an enhanced and sustained culture of accountability, transparency and integrity in the Civil Service.
They urged participants at the workshop to pay rapt attention to the lectures as they would be exposed to a number of topics including the Concept of Audit Verification Techniques and Procedures, Fraud Control Strategies, Financial Analysis and Reporting.
Thanking the Governor for his financial support in actualizing the program, they expressed gratitude to the Head of Service for ensuring that the State Workforce was repositioned for efficiency and productivity through capacity building.
