Ovie said we commend the Federal Government’s effort in enacting the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), and the state government’s effort to ensure that the provisions of the PIA are fully implemented, particularly those related to host community development.
“We are planning to organize a symposium for students across the Niger Delta region focused on raising awareness about the dangers of pipeline vandalization, oil theft, and related issues. The event aims to bring together Vice Chancellors, Rectors, lecturers, and students from the oil and gas field to discuss these critical topics and promote education on the impact of these activities.
He said the symposium will provide a platform for experts to share their insights and experiences, engage in discussions, and develop strategies to combat these challenges. Our goal is to empower students with knowledge and foster collaboration among academic institutions to address the ongoing concerns in the oil and gas sector effectively.
