A renowned educationist from Okpanam community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, late Mr. Christopher Okonmah, has been eulogized for his immense contributions towards the uplifment of humanity.
A youth leader in Okpanam, Mr. Ogor Okonmah stated this in Okpanam while speaking with newsmen during the 40th Memorial ceremony of their father, late Mr. Christopher Onweazu Okonmah.
Okonmah noted that their father was kindhearted, humble , unassuming and a firm believer in the growth of every individual that came across him, adding that different testimonies from people indicated that their father lived a fulfilled life despite his life on earth being short.
He stated that their father was a disciplinarian of repute, whose efforts in the development and unity of the community was commendable.
Also speaking, an education officer in the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Felix Okonmah said that the children decided to organize the memorial ceremony with a thanksgiving mass at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Okpanam and a civic reception to honour their father.
Felix Okonmah stated that though he was still a little child when their father passed away, stressing that people who knew their father very well had continued to speak good of him that he impacted positively on the society.
He asserted that their father lived a life worthy of emulation, noting that he was a God fearing man who instilled discipline and the fear of God in his family.
While commending the Director of Examinations in the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Clementina Ojumah and for her physical presence and the staff of the Ministry, particularly the staff of the Department of Examinations for their solidarity and support, Okonmah said that he would not take their love for granted.
He, however, paid glowing tributes to their mother for shouldering the responsibilities of both father and mother all alone and for the solid foundation she gave them
In their separate remarks, the son in-law, Mr. Richard Suoware and his wife, Mrs. Nora Suoware said that their father deserved to be accorded such remembrance and appreciated all and sundry for identifying with their family.
