In response to the worsening security situation in Oghior Community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, the Chairman, Hon. Vincent Oyibode, has announced the immediate imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew from 6:00pm to 6:00am.
The decision follows recent violent clashes in the community, which led to the destruction of properties and the burning of several houses. The Chairman’s directive was contained in an official statement issued on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, by his Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Henry Ubus.
As part of measures to prevent further breakdown of law and order, Oyibode ordered security operatives within Udu Local Government Area to take decisive action against armed individuals instigating unrest, directing them to engage any violators found with illegal weapons.
According to the Chairman, the curfew is a necessary step to halt the escalation of violence, protect lives, and secure properties in the troubled community.
“The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of the government, and my administration will not watch criminals plunge Oghior or any part of Udu into unrest, “ Oyibode affirmed.
He appealed to residents of Oghior to remain calm, comply with the curfew, and cooperate with security agencies deployed to restore order. Oyibode further assured that the Council, in collaboration with security formations, is closely monitoring developments and remains committed to ensuring full restoration of peace and normalcy in the community.
