The newly transferred Chief Inspector of Education (CIE) under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to Sapele LGA, Mr. Ono Ziregbe, has paid a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the Sapele Council Chairman, Hon. Bright Abeke.
The visit, which took place at the chairman’s office in the Sapele Local Government Secretariat, was aimed at formally introducing the new leadership of the ministry’s Sapele Field Office and reinforcing collaboration between the education authorities and the local government administration.
It also provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss shared responsibilities in ensuring effective supervision and management of basic and secondary education within the local government area.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Bright Abeke congratulated Mr. Ziregbe on his recent posting and described the visit as a positive step toward strengthening the working relationship between the council and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. He noted that education remains a key sector that requires continuous cooperation among stakeholders to achieve sustainable development.
Hon. Abeke stressed that the local government recognises the critical role of the Chief Inspector of Education in maintaining standards, monitoring schools, and supporting teachers in the discharge of their duties.
According to him, meaningful progress in the education sector largely depends on synergy between the ministry and the local government, especially in areas such as school supervision, infrastructure support, and community involvement.
The council chairman assured the visiting officials of the readiness of the Sapele Local Government administration to partner with the ministry in addressing challenges facing public schools. He emphasised that his administration is committed to initiatives that promote quality education, accountability, and a conducive learning environment for pupils and students across the local government area.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Ono Ziregbe said the courtesy visit formed part of his familiarisation process following his transfer to Sapele. He explained that engaging with the local government leadership was necessary to build a strong foundation for cooperation and effective service delivery.
Mr. Ziregbe noted that the responsibilities of the Chief Inspector of Education go beyond routine inspection, adding that collaboration with the local government is critical to ensuring that education policies and standards are properly implemented at the local level.
He expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded the delegation and reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the council to promote educational development in Sapele.
He further stated that sustained dialogue and partnership would enhance coordination between the ministry and the local government, particularly in areas such as monitoring, data collection, and addressing emerging challenges in schools.
The delegation included officials of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education from the Sapele Field Office, namely Mrs. Ese Igbigbi, Mr. Godwin Ufuoma, and Mr. Victor Onogholo, who accompanied the new Chief Inspector of Education on the visit.
The meeting ended on a cordial note, with both parties reiterating their commitment to collaboration and mutual support in the interest of improving education standards and ensuring better outcomes for learners in Sapele Local Government Area.
