The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has charged outgoing members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to prioritise networking, commit themselves to continuous self-development, and remain open to opportunities as they transition into the next phase of their lives.
Mr. Aniagwu gave the charge during a send-off ceremony organised by the Ministry of Information in honour of the outgoing Batch C, Stream 2 corps members who served in the ministry. He stressed that in today’s highly competitive environment, success goes beyond technical competence, noting that the ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships remains a vital asset.
The commissioner encouraged the corps members to always put their best foot forward wherever they find themselves, explaining that excellence, diligence, and a positive attitude often attract greater opportunities. He cautioned them against being overly selective in their career pursuits, observing that personal and professional growth sometimes begins in unexpected places.
According to him, every opportunity, no matter how small it may appear, should be approached with commitment and professionalism, as the experience gained along the way forms a solid foundation for future advancement. He further advised the outgoing corps members to deliberately invest in their personal development, pointing out that relevance in a fast-changing world depends largely on one’s ability to adapt and keep pace with emerging trends.
Mr. Aniagwu emphasised that continuous learning and skills acquisition are no longer optional but essential tools for survival and success in an evolving global landscape. He commended the corps members for their dedication and contributions to the Ministry of Information and urged them to uphold discipline, professionalism, and patriotism as they pursue their individual goals.
He expressed confidence that the knowledge and experience gained during their service year would serve as a strong platform for their future endeavours.
