The wife of the Delta State Governor and Founder of You Matter Charity Foundation, has assured market women across the state of a brighter and more prosperous year ahead, as she encouraged them to remain diligent, fair and intentional in their businesses.
Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, gave the assurance while addressing market women drawn from different parts of Delta State at an end-of-year celebration organised in their honour. Speaking as a mother, she described the women as hardworking pillars of the grassroots economy whose daily efforts sustain families and drive local commerce. She offered prayers and blessings for the women, expressing optimism that 2026 would be a year of favour and greater opportunities.
The Wife of the Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, explained that the gathering was organised to appreciate the resilience of market women and to provide them with a moment of relaxation and celebration as the year comes to an end. She reaffirmed her commitment to continuous grassroots engagement and empowerment through the You Matter Charity Foundation.
In a brief charge to the women, Reverend Godspower Akpoduta urged them to make judicious use of the support provided, stressing that the items and cash received should be invested wisely to bring lasting benefits to their families and businesses.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of souvenirs to the market women, with each beneficiary receiving a 50-kilogramme bag of rice and cash support. The gesture was greeted with excitement, dancing and expressions of heartfelt appreciation from the women.
The celebration was further enlivened by captivating cultural performances by the Delta State Arts and Culture Council, which added colour and rhythm to the occasion.
The market women, in their responses, expressed gratitude to Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, for her consistent show of love and concern for their welfare, noting that the gesture had renewed their hope and confidence.
As the event drew to a close, the women returned to their various markets encouraged, uplifted and optimistic about the year ahead.
