The Delta State Government has commenced the rehabilitation of a major bad spot on the Warri–Effurun Highway, opposite ShopRite in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.
Following the commencement of the repair works, the affected portion of the road has been cordoned off with red and white caution tapes to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians while construction is ongoing.
Some commuters who spoke with our correspondent expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the timely intervention. One of them, Mr. Gideon Ojo, a commercial “kpelegbe” bus driver, described the rehabilitation as a welcome development, noting that the bad spot had long posed serious challenges to road users.
Another respondent, Mr. Harrison Okosieme, a private car owner, also commended the Governor, describing him as a listening leader. He recalled that the damaged portion of the road had been a nightmare for motorists and expressed delight that the issue is finally being addressed for the benefit of both regular and first-time users of the highway.
Similarly, a commercial tricycle (keke) rider, Mr. Haruna Hassan, applauded the State Government for the ongoing rehabilitation. He, however, appealed to Governor Oborevwori to extend the gesture to other bad spots, particularly around the Niger Cat area along the Warri–Effurun Highway.
