The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Isaac Agbateyiniro, has expressed heartfelt sympathy with residents and business owners of Esisi Road and Oki Street following a devastating fire outbreak that occurred late Tuesday night into the early hours of Wednesday, 28th of January. 2026.
The inferno razed numerous shops, workshops, and residential buildings, leaving many families and traders displaced and counting heavy losses. Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the incident. The cause of the fire remains unknown, as investigations are ongoing.
The incident has also raised serious concerns among residents of Warri over the frequent occurrence of fire outbreaks in the city. Speaking on the development, Mr. Nosa Samuel noted that just last week, a similar fire incident occurred at Delta Secondary School Warri, adding that the recurring nature of such disasters has become worrisome.
Mr. Samuel called on the Delta State Fire Service to be more effective in its operations, especially considering the level of destruction recorded in recent fire incidents across the city.
Hon. Agbateyiniro described the Esisi Road fire as painful and unfortunate, noting that the scale of damage has deeply affected the affected communities. He urged residents to remain calm and resilient while appealing for strict adherence to safety precautions in homes, workshops, and business premises.
The Chairman further prayed for strength and comfort for the victims and encouraged collective support to help those affected recover from the tragic incident.
