The ongoing measles/rubella immunization campaign in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has received widespread acceptance from residents.
The campaign, which is aimed at protecting children against measles and rubella diseases, is being carried out by the Delta State Primary Healthcare Development Agency in partnership with other partners and stakeholders, including health workers across Uvwie Local government area from the 4th to 12th February, 2026
According to Mr. Gabriel Gbagbara the assistant coaching officer of Uvwie local government health department, the response has been positive, with many parents bringing their children to receive the vaccine.
“We have seen a good turnout so far, therefore we equally encourage all parents to take advantage of this opportunity to protect their children,” Gbagbara said.
The campaign is expected to run for several days, with health workers visiting various communities, schools, market, churches and other places where children between ages of 0 to 14 years can be found.
Mrs Okwukei, a parent whose daughter was immunized, advised others to ensure their children are vaccinated to prevent the spread of these diseases.
