The Chairman of the Delta State Council for Islamic Affairs (DSCIA), AlhajiIbrahim Nwadu, has emphasized that the welfare of Muslim faithful in the state cannot be overemphasized.
Alhaji Nwadu made the remarks during a visit by Muslim faithful to the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Centre in Aniocha South Local Government Area.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to provide spiritual support and present gifts to Muslim inmates at the facility. According to him, Islam is anchored on love and compassion; hence, the outreach was undertaken to demonstrate both spiritual and physical care to the inmates, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, and to give them a sense of belonging.
Alhaji Nwadu, who also serves as Vice President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, assured that Muslim faithful across the state would continue to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of Delta State. He added that they remain committed to peaceful coexistence with their host communities.
The DSCIA Chairman commended the management of the Ogwashi-UkuCorrectional Centre for their dedication to the welfare and rehabilitation of inmates.
Those who accompanied him on the visit included the Chief Imam of Ogwashi-Uku Central Mosque, the Imam of Yoruba Central Mosque, the Imam of IshiaguCentral Mosque, the Imam of Okpanam Central Mosque, Imam Balogu, as well as other community leaders.
