German police is investigating a shooting at a Jehovah’s Witness meeting hall in the city of Hamburg that left several people dead and many more others injured.
Police say the gunman who acted alone in the Thursday’s attack is presumed to be among the dead.
They add that there is no reliable information on the motive of the shooting.
The victims are yet to be identified, while work at the crime scene continues.
According to the BBC, police say they found a dead person at the scene who they believe may have been the perpetrator and investigations ongoing.
It is believed people had gathered, possibly for a Bible study, when the shooting began at around 21:00 local time.
Der Spiegel magazine reports that, the gunman is was a former member of the religious community, aged between 30 and 40.
French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his dismay following the shooting in Hamburg.
“Terrible news from Hamburg. I send France’s condolences to the relatives of the victims and to all our German friends. Our thoughts are with them,” Macron wrote on Twitter on Friday.
