
The release of results from the governorship and state house of assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues today.
On Sunday, the electoral umpire began the collation of results nationwide.
The Governorship elections were held in 28 out of 36 States on Saturday, while elections into the State Houses of Assembly were held in all 36 States.
Though INEC was largely commended for its promptness to polling units, as well as the functioning of the BVAS in comparison to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, pockets of violence were nevertheless recorded in some 20 states.
They are: Lagos, Delta, Benue, Osun, Ondo, Ogun, Niger and Kano.
Others are: Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Imo, Edo, Anambra and Katsina.
Zamfara, Kaduna, Rivers, Taraba, Anambra and Plateau also witnessed incidents of disruption.
Aside reported attacks on voters, EFCC operatives and journalists, there was also alleged vote buying and destruction of voting materials.
However, INEC has said voting will take place on Sunday in some polling units in places like Lagos, Plateau and Rivers States.

In Zamfara: 07:32 am. Dr Dauda Lawal declared winner
The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Dauda Lawal has been declared winner of the 18th March 2023 gubernatorial election by the INEC.
The State Collation Officer and Vice Chancellor Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Professor Kasimu Shehu said Dr Lawal polled the highest number of votes with 377,726 to defeat his closest opponent and incumbent governor, Bello Matawalle of the APC, who polled 311,976.

Professor Shehu said Dr Lawal satisfied all the requirement of the law hence his declaration as the winner of the election.
Kaduna: 10:02. Senator UBA Sani wins
INEC has declared the Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, (APC), Malam Uba Sani as the winner of the just concluded governorship election in the state.
The Returning officer, Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis said Uba Sani Scored the highest votes of 730002 while the candidate of the People Democratic Party Isa Ashiru Kudan became second 719196.

He explained that, the candidate of the Labour Party polled 58283.
According to him, the total vote cast are 1565861.
Benue: 09:05. INEC declares Rev Fr Hyacinth winner
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, as the winner of the March 18 poll and the Governor-Elect.
The Catholic priest won 473,933 votes ahead of his closest rival and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Titus Uba, who scored 223,913.

The Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna declared Alia the winner.
Alia, who is a member of the ruling APC, is expected to take over from Governor Samuel Ortom of the PDP G5.
Borno: 7:56. Zulum re-elected
The incumbent Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum has been declared winner of the March 18 Governorship election.
Announcing the result at the state collation Centre in Maiduguri, the Returning officer who is also the Vice Chancellor Federal University Wukari Professor Jude Rabo said Professor Zulum polled 545,543 to defeat his closest contender Mohammed Jajari of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP who scored 82, 147 votes.
” that Umar Babagana of the APC having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected ” Professor Rabo Declared.

According to the Returning officer, the re-elected Governor won in all the twenty seven local government areas of the state.
At the end of the exercise, agents of Peoples Democratic Party Bukar Petrol refused to sign on the results sheets alleging that the election was marred by irregularities.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Zulum dedicated his victory to Almighty Allah and people of Borno state.
Meanwhile, the APC has clinched all the 28 state assembly positions.
Cross Rivers: 5:25. INEC declares APC‘s Otu winner
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bassey Otu winner of the Governorship election conducted on Saturday, March 18th.
The State Collation Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Outage, Professor Teddy Charles said Senator Bassey Otu polled 258,619 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prof Sandy Onor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 179,636 votes.

Reacting to the victory, the governor-elect, Senator Bassey Otu expressed appreciation to the people of the state and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
APC also won in most of the Constituencies in the House of Assembly Election in the state.
Niger: 3:47 APC’s Bago wins
The APC governorship Candidate, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Bago has been declared the winner of the election.
Announcing the result, State Collation Officer and Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics University of Abuja Professor Clement Allawa said Alhaji Umar Mohammed Bago polled 469,000 votes.

According to him, Alhaji Isa Liman Kantigi of the PDP scored 387, 476 votes in a keenly contested election.
Professor Clement Allawa said APGA scored 1,746 votes, NNPP scored 3,378 votes while Labour Party polled 3,415 votes.
Agents of all the political parties have signed the election results except that of PDP who disappeared before the final announcement.
Katsina: 7:53. Dikko declared as Governor-elect
Dr Dikko Umar Radda of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been declared winner of the governorship election held in Katsina State on Saturday.
Announcing the result at the INEC head office in Katsina, the Returning Officer, Professor Muazu Gusau explained that Dr. Radda scored 859,892 votes defeat his closest contender, Senator Yakubu Lado of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 486,620 votes.

The returning officer explained that the result in eighty polling units were cancelled due to some hitches recorded during voting or collation.
Kano: 7:22am. Abba Kabir of NNPP wins
The Returning officer of the Kano Gubernatorial Elections Professor Ahmed Doko Ibrahim has declared the Candidate of the New Nigeria peoples Party Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf as the winner of the Kano gubernatorial polls.
Abba Kabir Yusuf scored the highest votes of 1,019,602 , followed by Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of APC with 890,705 votes.
Nasarawa: 6:44am. Governor Sule re-elected
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared the incumbent Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule the winner of the 2023 governorship election in the State.
Announcing the result in Lafia, the State Returning officer for the governorship election who is also the Vice Chancellor of University of Jos, Professor Ishaya Tanko said the APC governorship candidate fulfilled all the requirements of the law having scored the highest number of votes.

Ebonyi: 3.07PM
The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Chief Francis Nwifuru of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the Governorship Election in Ebonyi State.
Announcing the result at the State Collation Centre INEC Headquarters Abakaliki, the State Returning Officer who is also the Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria Nsukka, Professor Charles Igwe said Chief Nwifuru polled 199,131 votes.
His closest rival, Dr Ifeanyichukwuma Odii of the People’s Democratic Party scored 80,191votes while Professor Bernard Odo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance gathered 5,189 votes.
Earlier, The Independent National Electoral Commission has appointed a review committee to look into the Governorship Election Results collated from Ishielu Local Government Area using uploaded results in the IREV.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ebonyi State, Onyeka Ugochi announced this at the State Collation Centre, INEC Headquarters, Abakaliki.
She said the Commission arrived at the decision following the inability of the Collation Officer deployed to Ishielu Local Government Area and the Electoral Officer in the Area to compute results that tallied with other data.
“We have checked our IREV, they finished uploading their result hundred percent since yesterday; today, they complained of result sheets, we gave them replacement results and they are still finding it difficult to get us right,” she said.
“I have called Abuja and we are of the opinion that the Administrative Head should head the review committee now,” she stated.
“We are going to take it from what is contained in IREV and form EC8A and where it fails to tally, we will cancel the result.”
Mrs Ugochi also indicated that the State Collation Centre would open on Monday for conclusion and declaration of the winner.
Meanwhile, results from 12 Local Government Areas have been collated, except that of Ishielu.
Jigawa: 6:28pm Umar Namadi declared governorship-elect
The Jigawa State APC governorship candidate, Umar Namadi has been declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The Collation Officer, Professor Muhammad Zayyan Umar announced this shortly after collating the results at the INEC headquarters, Dutse, the state capital.
Professor Zayyan, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, declared Umar Namadi the winner of the election with a total of 684,449 votes to defeat his opponents.
According to him, the PDP candidate, Mustapha Sule Lamido got 368,726 votes.
Kwara: 6:20pm AbdulRazaq declared winner
The incumbent Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been declared winner of the 2023 governorship election in the state.
Reeling out the result, the State Returning Officer, Professor Isaac Itodo of the Federal University of Agriculture Markurdi said, AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, ”having satisfied the requirement of the law, scoring the highest vote 273, 424 is hereby returned winner”.

AbdulRazaq an APC Gubernatorial candidate defeated his closest rival, Abdullahi Yaman of PDP, who scored 155,490.
Oyo: 3:43pm. Governor Seyi Makinde wins
The incumbent Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has been declared the winner of the governorship election.
Declaring the winner at about 03:30 PM on Sunday, Oyo State Chief Collation Officer, Professor Adebayo Bamire said Governor Makinde and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won the election with a total of 563,756 votes.
His closest rival, Senator Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 256,675votes while Accord governorship candidate, Chief Bayo Adelabu garnered 38,357 votes.
Professor Bamire, who is the Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, announced the number of total votes cast as 889,592, with 14,920 rejected votes.
“Governor Seyi Makinde won 31 out of the 33 local government areas of Oyo state, while Senator Teslim Folarin won 2 local government areas,” he announced.
In Sokoto: 3:38pm
Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto of the APC has been declared the winner of the Sokoto State Governorship polls.
Mr Aliyu won with a total of 453661 votes defeating his closest rival Saidu Umar of the PDP who polled a total vote of 404632.
Lagos: 2:41pm
Nineteen out of the 20 local governments have submitted their results.
They include Apapa, Lagos Island, Epe, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Ikeja, Mushin, Alimosho, Ojo, Surulere, and Ikorodu.
Others are Eti-Osa, Ibeju Lekki, Ifako Ijaiye, Badagry, Lagos Mainland, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Somolu, and Amuwo Odofin local governments.
Borno: 1:02pm
The State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor Federal University, Wukari, Professor Jude Rabo has said results of 10 out of 27 local government areas are ready for presentation.
He urged political party agents to make informed, valid contributions and in an orderly manner.
Present at the Collation Centre in Maiduguri are Party agents, observers, security agencies and the media.
So far, results of five local government areas have been collated.
They are: Kaga, Mafa, Dikwa, Jere and Magumeri.

In Nasarawa: 12:49
There was Tension in Awe as youths protest non-declaration of election result for Awe North Constituency.
Meanwhile, argument ensued among party agents during collation of results from Ashige Electoral ward in Lafia Local Government Area due to alleged over-voting.
Kwara: 12:47pm
The Governorship Election results from 12 out of the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State have been collated.
Results from the remaining four LGAs are being awaited.

The Administrative Secretary, INEC, Kwara State, Mr. Shehu Maiyanga, announced that the situation room will reconvene by 2 pm for the remaining results and final announcement.
Sokoto: 12:07pm
Party agents and journalists are awaiting the arrival of the local government collation officers, despite earlier commencement of the election in the state on Saturday.

Nasarawa: 11:54am
In Lafia, results for all the 42 polling units in Akurba, Bakin Rijiya and Sarkin Pada electoral ward have been collated.
Also, collated in Awe local government area, are results from Jangeru, Makwangiji and Madaki wards.
Results of Six out of seven electoral wards in Nasarawa Eggon East constituency have also been collated.

Kwara: 10:38am
Results from seven Local Governments are being prepared in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The collation began on Saturday with results from three out of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state released.

The LGAs with collated results include: Ekiti, Offa and Isin
Lagos: 10:05am
Collation is yet to commence at the Lagos state collation center for the governorship election at the INEC Office, Yaba.
Party agents and journalists are waiting for the local government collation officers to bring in their results.

Meanwhile, voting is ongoing at 10 polling units in Victoria Garden City, Lekki.
The exercise was shifted to Sunday following a misunderstanding between INEC officials and residents over the spots to use as polling units.
Bauchi State 11:13am
Governor Bala Mohammed has been re-elected as the Governor of Bauchi State for another four-year term.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the March 18, 2023 poll was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he polled 525,280 to defeat his closest rival and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar who polled 432,272.
“That Mohammed Bala Abdulkadir of PDP having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby returned elected” declared INEC Returning Officer, Prof Abdulkareem Mohammed on Monday.
