The Kwara State Government has reduced workday for civil servants from five to three days per week.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Head of Service, Murtala Atoyebi said move approved by Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq was a’ ‘temporary measure” to ease the burden of public workers, following the hike in transportation fare as a result of controversial removal of fuel subsidy.
It directed all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the State to immediately work out a format indicating the alternating workdays for civil servants under them.
The statement however warned the workers not to abuse the magnanimity of the Governor, and pointed out that the regular monitoring of MDAs by office of the Head of Service would be intensified to ensure strict compliance.
