
Somtochukwu Udeze has emerged Speaker of the Anambra state House of Assembly.
Mr Udeze was elected to preside over the state’s 8th Assembly by the 30 members following his nomination by the member representing Ekwusigo Constituency, Ikenna Ofodeme and seconded by the member representing Awka North, Chimezie Ikwunne.
Similarly, the member representing Awka South Constituency-2, Chukwuma Okoye, was elected Deputy Speaker of the House.
The Acting Clerk of the House, Esther Aneto administered the oath of office following a voice vote by the lawmakers .
The new Speaker, Mr Udeze, who represents Ogbaru Constituency Two, was decorated at the event by the Acting Clerk in the presence of several dignitaries, including Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
