The Light Givers Foundation has awarded scholarships to ten indigent students from Abott Girls Secondary School in Ihiala, Anambra State.
This significant event took place on June 9th, 2023, within the school premises. The foundation conducted an examination for selected students, and the ten candidates who performed exceptionally well were chosen as beneficiaries. The value of this scholarship program is worth tens of millions of naira.

The initiative originated in April when High Chief Stanley Obodoagwu, also known as Ezeudo Gburugburu, made a promise to the school. High Chief Obodoagwu, a prominent business tycoon from Ihiala, Anambra State, pledged to provide scholarships covering secondary school up to university level for ten underprivileged students.

This promise was fulfilled in its entirety, witnessed by school officials, representatives from the Anambra State Ministry of Education, and local political leaders. The selection process for the beneficiaries was transparent and impartial.
Before the examination, which involved 45 students, Dr. Onyinye Okeke, the Secretary of The Light Givers Foundation, addressed the students. She emphasized that the students were chosen not solely based on academic brilliance but because the foundation believed that these students would benefit the most from this opportunity. Dr. Okeke encouraged them to seize this chance to transform their lives.
Hon. Afam Ononkwo, the Councilor representing Ogburu Ward 5 in Ihiala Local Government Council, expressed gratitude to High Chief Obodoagwu and The Light Givers Foundation for their consistent support to the less privileged members of the community during his speech.
After the selection process, two students were chosen from each of JSS1 to SS1, one student from SS2, and one student from SS3, making a total of ten beneficiaries.
Distinguished guests present at the event included Dr. Chukwuka Uzo Eto, the member representing the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Nnewi Zone in Awka, and Mrs. Umennadi Eziamaka, the Zonal Director of Education, Nnewi Zone. The school principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Sabina Chukwunedum, was also in attendance.
