
The National Examinations Council(NECO) has released results of the 2023 National Common Entrance Examination for admission into the 110 Federal Unity Colleges across the country.
The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education Mr David Adejo who announced the release, after receiving the results from the Registrar of the National Examinations Council Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi in Abuja said the Examination was highly competitive for Nigerian children.
Mr Adejo explained that this year’s edition of the examination was written in Nigeria, Benin Republic and Togo adding up to a total number of 72,865 pupils.
According to him, Lagos State had the highest number of 18,644 and Taraba with the lowest of 102.
He noted that 3,036 pupils were absent while 76 pupils had the highest score of 203; The lowest score was 01 mark and this was scored by six pupils.
Mr Adejo explained that admission criteria for selection of candidates into Federal Unity Colleges includes 60% Merit, 30% Equality of State,10% Exigency and stressed that the Federal Ministry of Education would ensure that all admission processes are concluded timely.
The Registrar of NECO Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi commended the Governor of Zamfara state for the appreciable increase in registrants from over 1,000 to 2.091 and his current efforts to off-set the debts owed NECO.
