Head of Registration Committee on Camp and Assistant Director, Deployment and Relocation Branch of the scheme in Lagos, Mr Kayode Osinubi, has emphasized to the corps members undergoing Orientation Course at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, on the policy of the NYSC that no corps member will be posted to multinational, telecommunications, banking and oil/gas establishments.
Mr Osinubi further revealed that in accordance with the scheme’s policy, corps members will not be posted to multinationals, telecommunications, banking and oil & gas establishments. He said this policy is a derivation of these establishments’ stubbornness in not recruiting or retaining corps members but recycling manpower and not paying them enough for services rendered. He added that corps members will not also be posted to their family or relatives’ establishments.
While fielding questions from the corps members, he said no corps member will be posted to where their discipline is not needed.
Speaking on reporting at their places of assignment after posting, he advised they immediately report once posted and warned against inducing rejection from employers as that will attract punishment.
The Assistant Director also informed corps members that posting is free and that they are not to pay in cash or kind. He warned that any attempt to pay for such services will be deemed illegal and will attract commensurate punishments.
While explaining the duties the Deployment and Relocation Branch, Mr Osinubi said the branch draws its duties from the Mobilization Department of the NYSC Headquarters, and it is responsible for aiding in verification of foreign trained graduates for national service, registration of Prospective Corps Members, posting of corps members, processing of Relocation of corps members to another State, administration of certificate of national service format, registration of relocated corps members, Reposting of corps members, issuance of Certificate of National Service to qualified corps members.
