

The 16th edition of the biggest award ceremony that celebrates Afrobeats and African culture was held on Sunday at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta.
Rema’s most popular single, Calm Down won several awards, Rema also won Best Male artist, African Artist of the Year and Digital artist of the year.
Aremu Olaiwola Qudus a.k.a Director K, who produced the video of the song also won Best Video Director.
Asake also scooped several awards. He won Next Rated Artist and his ‘Mr. Money With The Vibez’, won Album of the year.
Burna Boy’s Last Last won Afrobeats single of the year and Song of the Year.
The Headies Awards which began in 2006 have become the biggest prize in Nigerian music.
Sunday’s show was the second time the award will take place in Atlanta.
The Headies is a music awards event launched in 2006 by the Nigerian Hip Hop World Magazine to honour notable achievements in Nigeria’s music industry.
The event honors the best in Afrobeats and attracted A-list performers from around the African continent for the presentation, which was tagged “Celebrating African Renaissance.”
