
The National Pension Commission (PenCom) says at the end of the third quarter of 2023, Retirement Savings Accounts stood at 10million while Pension assets amounted to 16. 76trillion naira.
The Director General of PenCom said the Commission had continuously revised existing regulations and development of new ones to improve the scheme.
Mrs Dahir-Umar stated this in Abuja at the Pencom/NECA interactive session on the contributory pension scheme for the Organised private sector

The DG represented by the Commissioner Administration Pencom, Dr Umar Farouk Aminu, said the interactive was meant to enlighten Organised private sector and share thoughts on emerging developments in the pension space.

In a presentation on ‘Investment of Pension Assets under the pension Reform Act 2014-safeguards and fair returns, a principal manager in pencom, Mrs Patience Uzoma, said draft guidelines on investment of pension funds in foreign currency dominated assets was being developed
This, according to her, is to address the inflationary and currency devaluation pressures on the value of pension funds.
The Director General NECA, Mr Adewale Oyerinde said the interactive was meant to further improve the operationalisation and administration of the Pension scheme while pledging the commitment of NECA to the success of the Pension scheme.
