31 people who were kidnapped in Sokoto State have been saved by troops from the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD).
Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesperson for Operation Hadari Daji, who confirmed this in a statement, said OPHD, under the command of Major General Godwin Mutkut, who heads the 8th Division of the Nigerian Army in Sokoto, carried out focused operations on terrorists’ and bandits’ hideouts in the North-West region.
The statement also indicated that the troops cleared Tangaza Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State, including Alya Fulani village and Buani Forest, and were able to rescue 30 kidnapped people.
The identified terrorists’ hideouts were destroyed, and the criminals left their captives and escaped before the troops arrived.
Furthermore, the troops then moved to Goboro village, where they rescued one female who had been kidnapped, as the terrorists and bandits fled because of the troops’ stronger firepower.
The statement praised the troops for their bravery and encouraged them to continue making life tough for the terrorists and bandits.
