Abia State Government has ordered the cancellation of the recent Preliminary Test Sessions (PTS) examination conducted in the state for nursing students.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, along with other special assistants to the governor, announced this while briefing newsmen at the government house on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by the state governor, Alex Otti.
Prince Kanu noted that the result of the examination earlier published was alleged to have been conducted with high-handedness and a great level of fraud.
According to the Commissioner, a fresh examination will be conducted by the National Nursing Council of Nigeria, and a later date will be communicated to the prospective nursing students.
Contributing, the Principal Secretary and Chief Strategist to the Governor, Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, said a committee had been set up to look into all that transpired during the examination.
For his part, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, explained that the government’s decision was in line with Governor Otti’s campaign promise of sanitizing the entire system, stressing that government would continue to clear the ills it met on ground.
Meanwhile, the Information Commissioner added that as part of efforts to improve the governance process and ease of doing business, the Abia State Government had resolved to issue a Certificate of Occupancy within thirty days.
