Four children have been confirmed dead as a result of Diphtheria in Nasarawa , the Nasarawa State
To this end, the state Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization, WHO has commenced, contact tracing of children who had contact with the deceased to offer them preventable medication.
The State Health Educator, Mr Ishaya Amegwa made this known during the state social mobilization technical working group meeting in Lafia.
Mr Amegwa stated that children are usually vulnerable to diseases hence the need for parents to avail them for preventable vaccination.
On the circulating mutant polio virus discovered in neighboring Plateau and Kaduna states, he said the State government has taken bold steps to prevent its outbreak.
The State Health Educator urged members of the Technical Working Group including representatives of the State Ministry of Education, Media and interfaith forum to intensify awareness creation on trending health issues to change the behaviour of people.
