One Hundred and Fifteen (115) undergraduates from different institutions of higher learning in the country,on Saturday, emerged winners of the Monday Onyeme Scholarship scheme for Ika Federal Constituency.
The undergraduates, who will get a minimum of N200, 000 each, passed the aptitude test organised for those who applied for the scholarship for the Federal Constituency. The aptitude test took place at Ogbemudein Model Secondary School Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State
Recall that in the last two weekends, 289 and 149 persons had emerged at the aptitude test held for Ndokwa/Ukwuani and Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, making a total of 553 persons that passed the aptitude test for the Monday Onyeme Foundation 2024 Annual Scholarship Scheme for Delta North Senatorial District.
Addressing the students before the examination, Sir Monday Onyeme, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, who supervised the aptitude test, said the scholarship scheme was to encourage and support undergraduates in their educational pursuit.
Sir Onyeme who said that the award was merit-based, noted that the performance of participants with the highest score from Ika Federal constituency was not encouraging enough compared to that of Ndokwa/Ukwuani and Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituencies. He however urged the shortlisted candidates to be focused and put in their best in their studies.
The deputy governor disclosed that those who came first would get N400, 000, the second position wouldget N350, 000 each and the third position would get anadditional N300,000. He noted that the date for presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries would be communicated to them in due course.
One of the candidates who scored the highest mark, Mr. Oba Praise Oluchukwu, a medical student of the University of Benin, expressed gratitude to God and thanked Sir Monday Onyeme Foundation for putting asmile on his face.
Egbuna Ifeoma Divine and Richard Emmanuella Uchechukwu who tied in second position, expressed their appreciation to the deputy governor and assured of better performance next time.
