The National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) has officially congratulated the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Harry ThankGod Trakiriowei on his deserved appointment as Honourable Commissioner.
The Association President, Comr. Wiska Monday gave the congratulations today at the office of the Honourable Commissioner, in Asaba, when they paid a courtesy visit.
Comrade Wiska seeks collaboration/intervention of the Ministry towards the welfare of students, highlighting some aspects that needed attention so as to help students with their academic pursuit.
The President used the medium to invite the Ministry to this year’s NADESSTU CULTURAL DAY CELEBRATION which be held on the 25th of October, 2024 at Dennis Osadebe University, Awai.
According to him, “the uniqueness of this year’s cultural day is that it will inspire students who do not know how to speak their local dialect to learn as there will be cash prizes for students and also help students to learn how to dress very well in their various cultural attires”.
Responding, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development thanked the association for the visit. He reminded them that the Youth Ministry is for the youths and as such, they are in their home.
In his words, “We are always ready and open to receive you at all times. It is the platform established by theGovernment for you to develop yourselves in line with the inclusiveness of the MORE Agenda of our Youth Loving Governor, RT. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State.”
“There is hardly any segment of the youths that we will not carry along. Your president already knows some of the efforts we have made to carry you along like the African Youth Day Celebration. You were carried along. In other critical segments and programmes we will run, you will be carried along. The programs are for youths and you are all youths. So, why won’t you be accommodated”, he said.
The Honourable Commissioner also assured the Association of the Ministry’s support at all times and urged them to continue to be role models to other youths in the state.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the association’s drafted endorsement card which was wholeheartedly endorsed by the HonourableCommissioner.
