
Delta State Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, has emphasized the crucial role pharmacists play in the healthcare sector, urging pharmacists in the state’s public service to maintain high professional standards.
During a courtesy visit from the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), Delta State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Pharmacist Stella Onyegasi, Mr. Bayoko acknowledged the Delta State government’s commitment to harnessing its workforce’s potential for effective service delivery.
He noted that healthcare delivery remains a top priority for the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
The Head of Service assured the delegation that the government was exploring solutions to address the challenges faced by pharmacists.
Pharmacist Onyegasi had earlier highlighted various issues affecting pharmacists in the state, which included acute shortage of Pharmacists due to the ‘japa’ syndrome and request for appointment of Pharmacy consultants in the state.
She emphasized the need for proper integration of pharmacists into the healthcare value chain administration as critical stakeholders.
The visit underscores the importance of collaboration between professional bodies and the government to achieve sustainable development in Delta State.
