The Udu Local Government Council has issued a directive to markets causing traffic congestion in the area, emphasizing the need for immediate compliance to restore order and ensure the free flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The council reaffirmed its resolve to tackle traffic congestion while promoting a more organized market system in Udu. The directive mandates the cessation of all trading activities that obstruct roadways. Failure to comply will result in the closure of the offending markets.
Specific markets targeted by the directive include Jigbale, Ubogo, Express Junction, Orhuwhorun, Ujevwu, Agbaire, and Emedjor, among others. The council stated that the move is part of its commitment to address challenges posed by unauthorized trading on roads, which has significantly disrupted the daily lives of residents and road users.
“All market operators are advised to comply strictly with this directive to avoid any sanctions,” the press release read.
