Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, DrKingsley Ashibogwu has tasked headteachers and teachers of Primary Schools on dedication and diligence in the performance of their duties.
The Commissioner stated this today during the monitoring of schools in Asaba and its environs to ascertain the level of compliance from teachers and pupils, as schools resume for the second term across the state.
Among schools visited by the Commissioner and his team were Abuato Primary School 11, Asaba, Oshimili-South; Special School for Physically Challenged Children, Asaba and New Era Primary School, Okpanam in Oshimili-North LGA.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Ashibogwu said that the well-being and safety of the children were of paramount importance in the MORE Agenda of the state governor.
“Our children’s well-being is of great importance to His Excellency, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as encapsulated in his MORE Agenda.
“As heads, I am urging you to look around your schools, whatever challenge you have, put them into writing and send them to my office for prompt attention.”
He also admonished school heads and teachers to put in their best to ensure that the right knowledge and attitude is inculcated into the pupils.
Ashibogwu instructed that proper fumigation and sanitation should be carried out to ensure adequate safety, especially against reptiles and its likes.
At Abuato Primary School 11, the headteacher of the school, Mrs. Juliana Aghra thanked the Commissioner for his prompt visit and promised to abide by the directives as given.
She informed the Commissioner of the presence of basic amenities in the school as she pleaded for more.
The headteacher of the Special School for Physically Challenged Children, Mrs. Gladys Siakpere, while welcoming the Commissioner in company of other staff of the school, pleaded with the state government to come to their aid in terms of provision of basic amenities and employment of specialized teachers.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the monitoring exercise by the Oshimili-South Education Secretary, Dr Allanah Oputa-Otutu and other staff of the ministry.
