The Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has monitored second term school resumption across the state with a call on principals and their staff to discharge their respective duties with utmost commitment.
Ezewu, who stated this while monitoring school resumption in the state, said that education was key in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
She said that education would continue to play apivotal role in the growth and development of any society.
The Education Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance to school resumption and advised students to take their studies seriously.
While saying that the Oborevwori administration had continued to prioritize the growth of the education sector in line with the meaningful development enshrined in the M.O.R.E Agenda, Ezewu assured teachers that the state government would always put issues concerning their welfare in the front burners.
Schools visited by the Secondary Education Commissioner included Eradajaye secondary school, Adeje in Okpe Local Government Area, Ugbomrosecondary school, Ugbomro, Ugbolokposo secondary school in Uvwie Local Government Area and Unity Model Secondary School, Agbarho, as well as AgbarhoGrammar School, Agbarho, all in Ughelli North Local Government Area among others.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Ministries of Secondary Education and Primary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, who monitored some secondary schools in Delta North, including Government Model Secondary School, Asaba, described the turn–out as commendable.
Oghoro implored the principals and their teachers to be more committed to their duty so as to drive the education system to a greater height, adding that there was need for collective efforts to improve the standard of education in the state.
He told parents to prepare their children adequately for their academic pursuit and support the school management to give their children and wards the right mentorship that would contribute greatly to reshape their future.
In an interview with newsmen, the principal, Government Model Secondary School, Asaba, Dr. (Mrs.) Obiajulu Eboka, the principal of Westend Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah , principal of Osadenis Mixed Secondary School, Mrs. Patience Aguonye and their counterpart in charge of Niger Mixed Secondary School, Mr. Benard Aseyeni,as well the principal of the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE), Mrs. Regina Okoro, expressed their determination to contribute their quota towards the upliftment of the education system.
They lauded the Ministry of Secondary Education, especially the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Mrs. Rose Ezewu and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Augustine Oghoro for their unwavering support and effective leadership geared towards taking the education system to enviable height.
In their separate remarks, the principal of Zappa Mixed Secondary School, Mrs. Roseline Ogbokor and her counterpart in charge of Zappa Basic Secondary School, Mrs. Patricia Rapu said that they would build on the achievements of their schools in 2025 and appreciated the Commissioner for her efforts in redefining the education system in the state.
Some of the students who spoke said they were happy to be back to school after the Christmas and new year holidays, stressing that they would put in their best to surpass the academic performance
