Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu has charged the executivecommittee of the Association of Education Officers in Delta State Civil Service (AEODS) to practice what they preach to their followers.
The Commissioner gave the charge when he received the executives of the association led by its chairman, Comrade Jemijere Uniugbe in his office in Asaba.
According to the Commissioner, the actualization of the MORE Agenda is moving on a steady course and requires the efforts of all, including the association.
“As leaders of the association, you are very important in the actualization of the MORE Agenda of the present administration which is gradually coming to fulfilment and hopefully it will be fully completed before the end of the tenure.
“As Executives, you gained the trust of your members through their votes or nomination which means they hold you in high esteem,“ Ashibogwu stated.
Ashibogwu admonished the Executives to adhere strictly to ethical standards that could lead to effective service delivery and shun sharp practices and corruption.
He described the association as emblems and representatives of the government and as such must put on positive attitudes that would promote good working relationships among members of the association.
Speaking on Seminar and Training as requested by the association, the Commissioner stated that he is an ambassador of such ventures and would give every assistance to make it a reality.
Commissioner Ashibogwu stressed the importance of seminars to include gaining of more knowledge and experience and therefore should be taken seriously.
Dr Ashibogwu used the medium to advise the association to always dialogue whenever the need arises instead of resorting to confrontation and protest.
Also, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr.Augustine Oghoro, while lending his voice, reminded the executives that their jobs begat the association and should hence discharge their duties diligently as the system has a way of knowing those who perform their duty effectively.
Some directors who spoke, advised the association leaders to bear in mind that leadership and equity are parameters of comradeship.
They encouraged them to showcase selflessness, hardwork, think outside the box in terms of income generation and not see their position as an avenue to loot public funds.
Earlier, the executives through the chairman, Comrade Uniugbe, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment as he promised continuous good working relationship with the ministry.
He pleaded with the Commissioner on the need to continue to implement the duty tours/allowances applicable to Education Officers on duties as he further called for financial support towards the proposed professional seminar for best practices and ethical standards slated for April this year.
