
The Warri North Local Government Council chairman, Hon. Festus Ashima has said that the council’s 2025 budget tagged ‘budget of economic renewal and growth plan,’ will consolidate on the democratic gains his administration had achieved so far.
Ashima made this statement while presenting a draft estimate budget proposal of N33,880,242,992.28 (Thirty-three Billion Eight Hundred and Eighty Million, Two Hundred and Forty-two Thousand, Nine Hundred- and Ninety-two-Naira Twenty-Eight Kobo) for the year 2025 to the Warri North Legislative Arm.
During the presentation, the Warri North Council boss noted that the budget estimate will address the pressing needs of Warri North people irrespective of ethnicity.
“The budget has a capital estimate of 26.95 billion Naira and recurrent estimates of 6.93 billion Naira, and I am reassuring the House that every ward of the local government area will feel the developmental stride of my administration, going forward.
“I am assuring the Ijaws of Egbema clan that they have no reason to feel neglected or forgotten in terms of project spread. As stakeholders in the LGA, I implore you all to pray for us because prayers can help change things for the better and be rest assured of my administration’s commitment to every tribe.
“I would like to reiterate that my administration’s agenda is driven by His Excellency. Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE AGENDA, that ensures the prosperity of all Deltans irrespective of ethnicity,” he added.
While soliciting for the speedy consideration and passage of the bill, Ashima thanked the Warri North Legislative Arm leader, Rt. Hon. kanu Duakpemi-Gift and the councillors for their support and synergy with the executive arm.
“This is a grassroots government and we have the collective responsibility of meeting the developmental challenges of our people. The task ahead is demanding but with cooperation and a mind to work, we can collectively exceed expectations,” he said.
While responding, RT. Hon. Duakpemi-Gift commended the council chairman for his proactive developmental approach in the LGA, and noted that the Legislature will look critically into the draft estimate and do the needful in ensuring that the good intentions of the chairman is realised for the overall development of the council area.
Thereafter, the Council 2025 Appropriation Bill passed through first reading, following a motion by the Majority Leader, Hon. Austine Sule and seconded by Hon. Denning Arenyeka, with a unanimous approval of the House.
