
The Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government, Dr. Lucky Avweromre has presented a budget estimate of #14bn (fourteen Billion Naira) to the legislative Arm of the Local Government Council for consideration and approval.
Making the presentation on Tuesday at the Hallowed Chamber in the Council Secretariat at Otu-Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli South Local Government, Avweromre disclosed that the budget estimate for the 2025 fiscal year is christened “Budget of Economic and Infrastructural Transformation.”
Expatiating further, the Council Chairman gave a vivid financial detail of the budget as enshrined in the fiscal appropriation bill. He gave the Capital Expenditure at #4.9b and the Recurrent Expenditure at #10b.
The Council Boss who came in the company of his Vice Chairman, Hon. Happy Mukoro and some Council staff, stated that the budget estimate is in tandem with the MORE agenda of Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori.
According to him, the budget is expected to cover all necessary aspects of both the workers and residents of Ughelli South, stressing on critical development built on transparency, accountability and equity.
In order to have a hitch free service delivery, the Council Boss passionately appealed to the House to continue the friendly working relationship between the Executive and the Legislative Arm of the Local Government.
Areas of focus in the fiscal appropriation bill include projects on environmental sanitation, maintenance of roads, food security through agriculture, rehabilitation and reconstruction of health facilities and empowerment of youth and women through skill acquisition
Highlight of the event was the handing over of a copy of the budget estimate to the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Andrew Majemite.
