
The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori on Saturday demonstrated his renowned hospitality and political influence as he hosted a high-level reception at his Mosogar country home, shortly after the successful 2nd Combined Convocation Ceremony of the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar in Ethiope West Local Government Area.
The event drew top government functionaries and dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, who represented the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; Dr. Fidelia Ighrakpata, representing the First Lady, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori; as well as other prominent guests who had earlier graced the convocation ceremony.
The grand reception not only reflected Senator Amori’s grassroots connection and statesmanship but also highlighted his unwavering support for Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which prioritizes Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security.
Speaking during the reception, Senator Amori reiterated his belief in education as a cornerstone of meaningful progress.
“Our governor has shown clear commitment to the future of Delta State by investing in education. As his Chief Adviser, I stand solidly behind his vision. The approval of a new hostel and Provost quarter in the 2025 budget is not just a policy statement, it is a signal that education is truly a priority,” Amori stated.
Earlier at the convocation ceremony, Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed the administration’s determination to enhance funding for state-owned tertiary institutions. The ceremony celebrated academic excellence, with outstanding students recognized, including the overall Best Graduating Student, Elizabeth Akanaihu from the 2012/2013 session. Affiliate institutions like Delta State University, University of Benin, and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education were also present.
Deserving individuals were honoured for their contributions to humanity, among them Her Excellency Deaconess Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, Her Excellency Dame Edith Okowa, traditional rulers such as HRM Major-Gen. Felix Mujakperuo and HRM Sunday Odogu Okpurhe, as well as distinguished academics like Prof. Sam Oyovbaire and Chief Broderick Arigbodi.
Senator Amori, a respected political leader and community bridge-builder, emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration in advancing the educational sector. “We must all work together; government, traditional institutions, and the academic community to ensure that our children are empowered with the knowledge and skills needed to drive Delta State forward,” he said.
The Chairman of the College Governing Council, Rt. Hon. Akpodiogaga Emeyese, also used the occasion to call for continued cooperation and support towards the growth of the institution.
Senator Amori’s gathering was more than a reception, it was a reaffirmation of leadership, partnership, and a collective commitment to building a better Delta through education.
