
A nonagenarian, Mrs. Bridget Nwankwo has been laid to rest in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State amidst eulogies from various individuals whose lives were touched positively in one way or the other by the deceased.
Speaking to journalists, the chairman of Ogbeowelle Youth, Comrade Maxwell Ezechie described the deceased as an astute disciplinarian, kindhearted with uncommon accommodating spirit, stressing that she was a very straightforward woman whenever it came to handling issues.
Ezechie, who said that late Mrs. Nwankwo was his aunt, noted that the deceased was a God-fearing woman.
Also speaking, a renowned community leader in Ogbeowelle village, Okpanam, Ogbueshi Stephen Ezechie said that as a peace lover and mother, Mrs. Nwankwo inculcated discipline, love and unity among family members.
Ogbueshi Ezechie, flanked by his younger brother and the Director of Government Printing Press, Asaba, Mr. Emeka Ezechie, said that she was a good woman that never discriminated against anyone but always put the interest of all first in everything she did, stating that the entire Ezechie family would miss her motherly care, love and advice.
Earlier, one of the grandchildren of the deceased, Pst. Amaechi Nwankwo, popularly known as ‘Bosom friend ‘ and Mr. Okonkwo Ezechie, described her as a great woman of substance, adding that she was a rare asset to humanity, just as they said that she contributed so much in building the foundation of their lives through her discipline and courage.
Pst. Nwankwo and Mr. Okonkwo Ezechie explained that they would sustain the legacy and courage she left behind, saying that she was a pillar to their families.
Nwankwo narrated how his grandmother began to play the roles of his biological mother from when he was two months old until her death, recalling how his grandmother would go to farm, fetch firewood and fry gari, all for them to be able to feed and go to school.
It could be recalled that the late Mrs. Bridget Nwankwo died at the age of 95 years and survived by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
