The flag-off ceremony championed by Her Excellency’s Foundation – You Matter Charity Foundation in collaboration with Nigeria Governors Spouses Forum underscores her dedication to improving public health and her role as a beacon of hope in the fight against these debilitating diseases.
As Net Ambassador, Deaconess Oborevwori’s influence will continue to inspire and mobilize communities to take action against malaria and other diseases. Her advocacy will undoubtedly contribute to increased awareness, prevention, and treatment, ultimately enhancing the health and well-being of the people of Delta State.
Earlier, in a welcome address, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to achieving universal health coverage, with a focus on ensuring that no one was left behind.
Dr. Onojaeme emphasized the importance of collaboration with international partners, including the United Nations Agencies – WHO and UNICEF, as well as line ministries, departments, and agencies in combating preventable diseases in the State.
The Health Commissioner urged traditional and religious institutions, the private sector, and corporate organizations to support the measles and Rubella Vaccine sensitization campaign programme, which he said was aimed at educating and sensitizing the public on the importance of Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccines for children between 9 months and 15 years old.
He said vaccines protect children against preventable diseases that could result in serious complications, including pneumonia, encephalitis (brain damage), and even death.
While giving an assurance that the Delta State Government, through the Ministry of Health and the Primary Health Care Development Agency, were dedicated to ensuring that immunization programmes are effective, efficient, and accessible to all, the Health Commissioner expressed profound gratitude to the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori – Founder of You Matter Charity Foundation, for their tireless efforts to promote the well-being of Deltans.
